Make your kitchen convenient for healthy eating

The key to eating and cooking healthy food is a convenient kitchen, an article has reminded homeowners. Juan-Carlos Cruz, author of The Juan-Carlos Cruz Calorie Countdown Cookbook and TV personality, was quoted by CTW Features as saying convenience is the one truth to healthy cooking. Kitchen design can mean the difference between cooking a balanced meal at home and grabbing a bucket of fried chicken on the way in from the office, the article suggested. The layout of a kitchen, its appliances and even decoration can all improve the convenience of a cooking area and therefore promote healthy cookery, it said. Personal chef Michael Welch agreed, adding kitchens that are difficult to work in may lead to stress and compromises on nutrition. Clearing up mess may be one of the reasons for this stress - a problem that may be alleviated by a food waste disposer installed next to a sink. A large sink could also make washing up less of a chore by allowing extra space for rinsing and draining.
