Low-level lighting becoming more popular

A home improvement sector representative body today highlighted the increasing popularity of low-level lighting in housing projects and interior design, it has emerged.The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) noted that design trends were adjusting to more contemporary styles, with less-dominating spotlights becoming more popular in homes across the country.Spokesperson for the NHIC Andrew Leech said that low-level lighting was in at the moment for living areas and that there was now much less emphasis on a central light and even wall lighting.He added In kitchens and bathrooms there is a mixture of solution with spotlights, ceiling recessed lights, under-cabinet strip lights and even lights within the floor.Last month, the Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP, president of the NHIC, highlighted the need for improved home-based energy efficiency, especially in existing private sector housing.He added that incentives were needed to encourage homeowners to bring new standards of efficiency into their homes to keep running costs low and save the environment.
