Lighting a small kitchen

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A small kitchen can be a challenge to light, particularly if there are no windows letting in natural light. Shadows and dark corners can make a small kitchen appear even smaller so they should be avoided. If your kitchen is well lit, it will appear larger. You can even make ceilings appear higher by hanging pendant lights. Selection recessed lighting will also make your kitchen look more attractive and inviting. Make sure you light work areas like the cooker, kitchen sink etc well so they are easier to use. These areas can also made to be features within the kitchen using accent lighting. If your kitchen has no windows at all, you will need some bright lighting. Install lights under the cabinets, for example, to give your kitchen a more welcoming feel. When considering the dcor of your small kitchen, opt for lighter colours as dark colours can make your kitchen appear even smaller than it really is.
