Launch of single water label

Plans to make things easier for purchasers of taps, shower valves and shower heads by introducing a European single water label have moved a step closer. Tap and shower trade associations and manufacturers from a number of European countries have announced completion of the first phase in the development of the single Water Label. CEIR, the European Association for the Valve Industry, has brought together representatives from the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and Denmark to adapt the current UK Water Efficient Product Labeling Scheme into a single European Water Label Scheme. CEIR and the Bathroom Manufacturers Association have pushed for the introduction of the Water Label after the European Commission set a goal to consolidate existing labels into one. The scheme will provide clear information about levels of product water consumption. The Water Label shows the volume of water the product consumes per minute if it is installed correctly and in accordance with manufacturers instructions, as well as offering a performance band per product. The European database can be found at www.europeanwaterlabel.eu The site includes a unique country search facility. The Water Label will be launched during the European Commission Green Week in Brussels from 22nd to 25th May 2012.
