Kitchens need a system, says expert

People should make sure they have a structured system in place to guarantee they have sufficient space in the kitchen, one expert has claimed. Aliza Green, author of Starting with Ingredients, said that keeping a kitchen organised does not necessarily mean storing away items in cupboards, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. I like to have everything close to hand. I keep olive oil out, honey, other oils, mixer, food processor, spice grinder, toaster oven - everything is out, she remarked.Separating clean and dirty plates and allocating them to certain places - such as in the kitchen sink - is important, Ms Green added, while maintaining an adequate working space for food preparation should also be considered. A recent study by Halifax revealed 57 per cent of people who are considering buying a home believe a new kitchen is an essential part of the decision, while parking facilities and energy-saving concerns are less favoured.
