Kitchens go back to black

Home design experts have emphatically declared that black is back in the kitchen. While the cooking and eating area may be the traditional home of bright lighting schemes, soft wood tables and gentle tiling and countertops, the Ideal Home Magazine has ventured a bold all-black kitchen vision.Claiming that homeowners could make a shining statement with a dramatic black kitchen, the publication claimed that appliances and worktops should be chosen carefully in order to lighten up the darker-toned kitchen.Contrasting worktops could complement dark flooring and cabinets perfectly, it was claimed, with rich wood, white or stainless steel all recommended. Where sinks are concerned, stainless steel models such as the Astracast Onyx Half Bowl 3016 are often among the sleekest, providing a potent counterpoint to black colouring above and below the countertops. Ideal Home Magazine also advised that the best way to complement a black kitchen colour scheme was rigourous cleaning, with black-gloss units or appliances requiring regular buffing to remain smear-free.
