Kitchen waste bins boost recycling in Cheltenham

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Homeowners in Cheltenham could have greener kitchens as a result of a waste bin scheme by Cheltenham Borough Council.More than 15,000 new kitchen waste containers have been delivered, with each home in the town to receive two by the end of the month, reports the Citizen. The scheme aims to boost recycling in the town and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.Designed to be kept in a space such as the cupboard under the kitchen sink, a 7-litre container is provided for leftovers and peelings. The contents of the container are then transferred into a 23 litre outdoor bin to be emptied weekly by bin men.Waste will then be taken to a composting site in Dymock to be used on local farms, the newspaper reports.Households can install a range of features to make their kitchens more eco-friendly.Green kitchen designs include low-flow kitchen taps and a clay farmhouse kitchen sink, which can be recycled, reports St Louis Today.ADNFCR-1321-ID-800454802-ADNFCR
