Kitchen trends for 2013

If your New Years resolution is to renovate your kitchen, here are some tips for top trends for 2013. The contemporary look continues to be popular. Stainless steel sinks and taps work well with chrome worktops and splashes of colour. However, if you are looking for more of a country living feel, think about including a cast iron sink, brass fixtures, plenty of dried flowers and some aluminium signs from the local garden centre or craft shop. All you will need to add is some home baked bread in the oven to complete the atmosphere. Cooking shows have never been more popular and the enthusiasm has found its way into kitchen design. The trend in 2013 will be for large surfaces and spacious kitchen islands to create as much space as possible. Good lighting will be important next year, particularly as kitchen designs become more environmentally friendly. Include ambient lighting in the form of lamps, down lighting and LED bulbs fitted below cabinets. Monochrome is going to be really big in the New Year. Black and white tiled floors and light units topped with dark counter tops work really well together and, if you are not thinking of completely replacing your kitchen, this is a look that can also be achieved with a brush and some paint.
