Updating tiles in kitchen sink areas can add visual appeal as well as providing a practical use, it has been claimed. Jules Archard, interior design specialist, noted that there is an increasing range of possible options as more and more homeowners look to implement fresh ideas around the home, Kate Watson-Smyth writes for the Independent. She remarked The sheer variety of tiling materials now available and the recent trend towards tiling new areas of the home has led to an explosion in innovative new tile designs, textures and finishes.According to the Ms Watson-Smyth, a dull kitchen can be given a dramatic look with the addition of new tiling and noted that black and white mosaics may brighten up a dull cooking area. People were advised that marble, granite and limestone options are attractive - but can be pricey - while ceramic and porcelain is the practical option for kitchens because they are hard wearing. Interior design columnist Debbie Travis, writing for North Island Midweek, stated that certain tile patterns can provide an eye-catching backsplash.
