Written Kitchen taps are dirtier than toilet handles, it has been revealed. The study by the Hygiene Council found that cloths which could also be used to clean kitchen taps are heavily contaminated with a dangerous mix of bacteria.According to the research, 14 per cent of kitchen taps had high rates of E.coli compared to six per cent of toilet handles.Chairman of the Hygiene Council John Oxford said The importance of targeted disinfection of key hygiene hotspots in the home is paramount. He added Practicing good hygiene is something we can all do to break the chain of infection and protect ourselves and our families. One way that bacteria could be reduced in the kitchen is to use a sink waste disposer, as well as regularly cleaning kitchen taps.Express Estates reported that getting rid of wet rubbish through a food waste disposer could discourage bad smells and the growth of bacteria.
