Kitchen tap water should be utilised more in public bodies in Scotland, one politician has suggested. Conservative environment spokesperson Nanette Milne urged local councils to consider how they utilise taxpayers money during difficult economic conditions after it was revealed that authorities spent over 1 million buying in bottled water. She said This is an obvious area to cut back on - by either using large water coolers or tap water, which is free.A freedom of information request was sent to 32 councils in Scotland, but 12 institutions failed to provide the statistics. When the bill for soft drinks and water coolers was included the figure rose to 2.8 million a year, which included schools. North Lanarkshire was listed as the top spender, with 592,179 used on supplying water in the last three years. Those looking to improve the quality of their kitchen tap water could benefit from Franke Triflow filter as it is designed to fit easily to a kitchen tap and filters fluid through a purification system.
