A design expert has offered some tips for turning a kitchen into an effective recycling centre while keeping the room clean and attractive. Jaci Conry wrote on Boston.com that any recycling containers could be stored under the kitchen sink so that items could be easily rinsed if needed.Among other suggestions was the use of a special recycling cabinet with a stainless steel bottom for easy cleaning. Ms Conry even suggested that a special chute could be built for quick disposal.Just like a laundry chute, the system uses gravity, sending recyclables to a platform in the garage below. This removes odors from the house and makes it easy to take out the bins, she wrote on the website.Interior designer Gene Abel recently told Indystar.com that sinks that perform a range of functions, such as food waste disposal, work well in busy kitchens. Not only are husbands more involved in the kitchen now, but even kids are helping prep, so the advances in technology and appliances are really making it fun and interesting, she said.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19501346-ADNFCR
