A carefully selected kitchen sink and storage unit helped to add to the mid-Victorian country living feel of a renovated retirement home, it has been revealed.The property, located in the countryside of the Niagara Peninsula in North America, features a 20 sq ft farm kitchen that boasts top-of-the-line modern appliances with cast iron look-alike facades that convey the character of the homes era, the Calgary Herald reported.This includes a custom-made Mexican copper kitchen sink which was placed in an old wooden cabinet bought at a local auction, the newspaper observed.It was also noted that layers of linoleum tile and plywood flooring had been torn up during the homes kitchen renovation to reveal original, stylish pine boards.From the cozy country kitchen, which is the undisputed nucleus of the old home, to the grandly proportioned reception rooms, the 11-foot ceilings, the gleaming and original pine floors, baseboard and trim, this grand home represents the best of mid-Victorian country living, commented the Calgary Herald.Last week, design expert Chris Gleason told the San Antonio Express-News that there is an increasing demand for kitchens that reflect the direction of peoples everyday lives.
