An elegant two-bedroom apartment in Croatia features various stylish stone textures and finishes, including in the kitchen. The New York Times Great Homes and Destinations section reported from the property, which is one of five apartments in a 16th-century palace that overlooks the Svete Marije Cathedral in Dubrovnik. As the newspaper observed, a renovation in 2005 served to preserve the buildings original stone walls and 13-foot ceilings. It also noted that the stone texture had been retained in the homes main rooms with the kitchen sink and counters made of limestone from a local quarry, while the cabinets are made from solid oak.The apartment was reported to be a holiday rental, available for around 180 a night in peak season.Meanwhile, an article by Hertfordshire-based Chestnut Flooring claimed recently that homeowners should carefully select their floor material when embarking on a kitchen renovation.
