A designer installed a central island with a special prep kitchen sink as a means of boosting the rooms functionality during one of her renovation projects.Lorraine Huit opted to make a number of sweeping changes to the kitchen in question because the room was small and outdated, El Paso Style magazine reported.The designer therefore opened up the space by removing a dividing wall between the kitchen and the breakfast area.In addition to installing the island and extra kitchen sink, she also revamped the room with state-of-the-art Viking appliances, a warming drawer, granite countertops and a new walk-in pantry.A contemporary but warm design is whats cooking now! commented the magazine.Meanwhile, design experts Jan Kyle and Doug Wells recently wrote for KansasCity.com that homeowners can make their kitchens appear brighter and more spacious by using light, neutral colours.
