Kitchen renovation can be a better option to moving

It may be more worthwhile renovating important rooms in an existing home - such as the kitchen - rather than moving to a new property, an expert has said.John Hershey, a residential architect in the US, suggested that a well-designed renovation can be the perfect way of achieving a dream home.Mr Hershey was responding to a question from a reader of the Mundelein Review, who asked whether it is better to move home when a growing family needs more space, or renovate so as to avoid the hassle of uprooting. The renovation cost cannot be compared apples to apples with a matching increased mortgage amount of a larger home, replied Mr Hershey. He noted that there will also be additional moving expenses on things like new furniture and other redecorating. Mr Hershey said that by opting for a renovation, homeowners can solve their space problems while also achieving new finishes in central rooms like the kitchen. Writing for Canwest News Service last week, Marc Atiyolil , editor-in-chief of Home Trends Magazine, said that when people are looking to buy a property, they should first think about their own schedule and how they like to spend time at home.
