Homeowners have been advised to ensure they have sufficient insurance cover for the gifts they acquire this Christmas.Mike Powell, insight analyst for general insurance at Defaqto, noted that many people may not automatically think about their insurance needs when buying presents.Observing that there will be variations in the temporary increases in cover to protect contents for special events, he said Double check your insurance policy to ensure you have the correct cover you need.Mr Powell was commenting after research by Defaqto found that 90 per cent of home insurance policies increase their cover over Christmas, but the levels by which they do so vastly differ.The news comes after it was reported that plumbers in the US were anticipating a busy day today (November 26th) after families across the country sat down to enjoy Thanksgiving yesterday.Roto-Rooter, a national plumbing and drainage service, told ABC News that the day after Thanksgiving is the single busiest day of the year for residential plumbers, with incoming calls to the company with requests to clear out and fix the kitchen sink going up by more than 50 per cent compared to the average Friday.
