Kitchen owners express safety fears as clocks go back

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

One in four people feel more at risk of personal injury and burglary as a result of the clocks going back, new research shows.A report from Santander has shown that a significant proportion of homeowners and occupiers feel less safe as the nights draw in earlier.Indeed, 43 per cent of people revealed that they cut down on leaving the house altogether after the clocks go back an hour as they did yesterday (October 31st).Commenting on the research, Malcolm Tarling, spokesman for the Association of British Insurers, said Burglars like to work at night, as it allows them to do so. You need to think about things like making sure your house gives the appearance of being occupied even when youre out.Good quality door locks and making sure you lock the door even if you are just popping out for a second are also important, and common sense. The news comes after Blane Judd, chief executive at the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, recently urged homeowners who call out fitters to deal with boiler problems this winter to also check their plumbing competence. This could cover maintenance and repair tasks in and around the kitchen sink. ADNFCR-1321-ID-800209470-ADNFCR
