Homeowners that are looking to increase the visual appeal of their food-preparation areas could benefit from a kitchen island, one expert has suggested. Interior design expert Paul Radoy noted that not only does a kitchen island look good it can improve functionality and create space, ARA reports. An island with a great focal point like a wine storage and serving base is classy and yet very practical, he remarked, adding that spice drawers on a fixture for holding various utensils is also an option.Streamlining an island with a kitchen sink can also be of benefit, Mr Radoy commented, or even with a dishwasher and cooker. People were also advised to consider open shelves on a kitchen island to hold cookbooks and decorative items.According to Linda Brigida, writing for the Kingston Reporter, installing a kitchen island for those that have the room is an excellent way of creating space.
