The installation of a large central island has helped to make a kitchen suitable for communal gatherings and entertaining.Jim Slayton and Rob Hradsky showed the Baltimore Sun around their kitchen for the newspapers Dream Home feature, revealing that the room had been made more open and functional thanks to various additions.With a love of cooking and entertaining, both men take advantage of their large kitchen that features glazed maple cabinets, updated appliances in black enamel and a large centre island, the newspaper reported.In addition, Mr Hradsky said that he was planning to invest in a range of kitchen upgrades including ceramic flooring and granite countertops for the kitchen sink area. Mr Slayton, meanwhile, said that he had used antique furniture throughout the home to add warmth and elegance.Last week Neil Wertheimer, editor-in-chief of Fresh Home magazine, said that homeowners are increasingly using their kitchen design to express their personalities through unique combinations.
