A couple has shown how they made a kitchen more functional while retaining original features during the renovation of an 18th century country house. Will Morrow and partner Kent Ozkum showed the Frederick News Post around their converted kitchen which features antique armoires and original cabinets which have been restored and used for storage. The news provider also noted that three wood-burning fireplaces had been converted to gas for a more effective heating system while a dirt kitchen floor was dug out and the ceilings were raised. To ensure the restored space would be practical, a kitchen island was installed, offering an additional option for a kitchen sink area. The couple used original features within the house to guide them during the renovation. One of the things still here that guided us was some of the original random-width beaded boards, Mr Ozkum told the newspaper. The Baltimore Sun recently reported on how a couple had renovated a kitchen space by recycling materials.
