Kitchen honours for female chefs

Women are gaining ground on their male counterparts in the kitchen, this years Michelin Guide has revealed.Female kitchen staff have gone from waiting tables and standing beside stainless steel sinks to running their own successful restaurants.The 2009 Michelin Guide includes ten restaurants with women as head chefs, this is an increase from just six in last years book.Derek Bulmer, editor of the 2009 Michelin Guide, told the Telegraph that the new stars are the first signs of women getting to the top in very prominent kitchens. If you go back more than ten years or so, there wouldnt have been any women at all working in those kitchens.Commenting on the difference between male and female chefs, he said that women then to run a calmer, quieter ship.
