Health and safety chiefs have warned that a number of builders could be risking their lives by completing dangerous home improvement work.Inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) discovered the poor safety standards during a selection of targeted checks of small and medium-sized domestic property developers.The unsafe work could include various kitchen renovations including those related to upgrading kitchen sinks and cabinets.Liam Osborne, HSE inspector for Cathays, Roath, Canton and Cardiff city centre, told the news provider The number of unsafe property refurbishments currently being undertaken in the Cardiff area is of real concern.We had no choice but to take robust enforcement action to ensure that workers on site did not suffer significant injury or worse.Meanwhile, the need to remain vigilant when undertaking improvement work has been highlighted by figures which show that the construction sector is one of the most dangerous industries in the UK.
