Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A new gadget for the kitchen which uses soap nuts instead of detergent to wash clothes has been named as the winner of Electroluxs 2007 Design Lab.The firm launched a competition among students to see who could design the most eco-friendly household appliance, with Levente Szabo from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art Design in Hungary, scooping the award.Mr Szabos design borrowed from eastern culture, drawing on his experience of India and Nepal where people use the soap nut to clean their clothes. In second place was the Pebble, a portable solar food cooker.Designed by Laura Pandelle from Ecole Boulle, the Pebble harnesses the latest advances in solar technology to effect high-speed heat transfer. With an energy-saving fridge completing the top three, the signs are that the kitchen could be an increasingly environmentally place.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18382458-ADNFCR
