Kitchen evolution away from golden triangle

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The golden triangle of sinks, ovens and fridges could be under threat as kitchen design evolves away from the tradition, it was claimed. Kitchen and Bath Design News cited new research claiming that the latest trend in kitchen design was away from the core work triangle and in favour of dispersed task-specific work zones. The Research Institute for Cooking Kitchen Intelligences (RICKI) Kitchen Intelligence A Designers Perspective study said that the cooking area would start to divide its tasks, even at the risk of putting more distance between the core items. But top sinks from manufacturers like Franke and Astracast will not be banished from their prominence, rather the report indicates that sinks, taps and other appliances will start turning up in more areas of the house. Also suggested was that appliances such as ovens and microwaves will be completely hidden, following the approach of the fitted kitchen design.Meanwhile, noisy drawers and units were also singled out for renewal, with soft-close cabinets and drawers said to be on the way in.
