Kitchen DIY is a job for both sexes

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

It is up to both men and women to muck in when it comes to kitchen DIY, the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has said.NHIC director Andrew Leech noted that there has been a rise in the number of women carrying out home improvement work as female members of the household aim to help keep costs down through DIY.His comments follow a recent survey from Bosch Power Tools which found that the majority of UK women (69 per cent) have carried out repairs and improvements in the home to save money.Mr Leech argued that that competent DIY could improve the price of a property, as long as aspiring renovators do it by the rulebook and keep it as neutral as possible, without imposing too much of their own personality on the home theyre looking to sell. Installing new fixtures such as a Franke kitchen sink or set of taps could also help to boost the value of a property.Meanwhile, a recent study commissioned by Halifax Home Insurance found that DIY skills may be genetically determined, with two out of three Britons lacking the necessary spatial awareness to carry out the tasks required.
