Kitchen renovators have been urged not to ignore black when it comes to new colours.Interior designer Candice Olson reported for the Seattle Times on one of her own kitchen remodel projects where the clients had wanted a more up-to-date space for entertaining guests and business associates.Writing for the paper, she said that one of her first steps had been to remove existing flower-patterned wallpaper and repaint the walls in a buttery cream colour so as to create a serene base from which to develop a new colour scheme. Many people dont think of black when renovating a kitchen, she observed. Used properly, however, it can provide a great anchor in a large room and bring a sense of sophistication and style to any space.Indeed, Ms Olson noted that she had used black for the new countertops to create an immediate change and a contemporary look, which was offset by a backsplash made from aluminium panelsMeanwhile, Rebecca Kolls, senior director and consumer strategist of homes and gardens at Iconoculture, recently told NorthJersey.com that homeowners can streamline their kitchen sink area by removing clutter and using multi-functional products and appliances.
