Kitchen design should make people feel secure, says expert

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

People currently want to feel secure in their surroundings when it comes to interior design, it has been suggested.Simon Hamilton, director of interiors consultancy Simon Hamilton and Associates, has set out his views on current trends in home design. He observed that homeowners have come through a period of wanting things to be very pared down and stripped away and now want interiors that are more reassuring at a time in which people are unsettled and not sure of the future.People want things that are a bit more worn in, and have a bit more heritage, said Mr Hamilton. Not everything has to be absolutely perfect. The views are similar to those of Katrina Burroughs in the Daily Telegraph, who claimed that cream, beige, oyster and stone are still the shades that make up the nations comfort zone.Meanwhile, a recent design column in Deseret News suggested that people should think carefully about both their needs and budget when choosing appliances and fixtures like kitchen sinks and taps.
