Kitchen design needs a personal touch

Those looking to design a new kitchen should keep in mind that food preparation areas should reflect personal taste, one expert has claimed. Interiors expert Mal Corboy said that even if some people do not appreciate a style, it will still maintain originality, the New Zealand Herald reports. Ive always been a believer that youve got to try and create a bit of a style that you call your own, he remarked, adding that most people can learn the principles of design. According to Mr Corboy, who was chosen as the kitchen designer of the year by the Kitchen Bathroom Designers Institute of Australia recently, creativity can foster imitation. Homeowners should avoid redecorating in colours that are too neutral, he added, as it doesnt take an expert to do a beige on beige option. Lighting specialist Frankie Cameron recently offered a contrasting opinion, however, by suggesting to the Seattle Times that individuals should avoid adding a personal touch to fixtures when looking to sell a property.
