Kitchen design trends have come full circle in recent decades, with old styles and colour schemes now returning in fashionably retro homes, it has been observed. An article by Rixonway Kitchens, a kitchen manufacturer dedicated to community regeneration, notes that the original white doors with aluminium trims, familiar in social housing up and down the country in the early 1970s, are now being recreated in the kitchens of some modern, private homes. It argued that since the explosion of interior design TV shows like Changing Rooms, people have taken a greater interest in home aesthetics and the appearance of their kitchens, with social housing tenants no different.Indeed, Rixonway noted that social housing kitchen manufacturers were prompted to work with the bolder primary colours which grew in popularity following such programmes.Similarly high-gloss, once the reserve of the private retail market, began creeping into the social housing sectors product ranges, it added. Meanwhile, the Scotsman recently reported that a couple were able to add to the country vibe of their home cottage by installing a Belfast kitchen sink.
