Kitchen design can do without gimmicks

A survey from Comfy Quilts has yielded advice for those looking into kitchen design warning them off the nations most hated household gadgets.Asking people which domestic items bothered them the most, many respondees identified objects of kitchen gimmickry as the bane of their existence, with the electric tin opener ranking highest on the annoyance stakes. In close second was another highly-hyped but not necessarily practical kitchen item, the waffle iron, with respondees showing that novelty items for making specific products did not feature highly on their kitchen design lists. Response from the Times showed that classic items such as sinks and taps should be left to their own devices, without the addition of electrical gadgets and novelty items whose function could be fulfilled by other, simpler devices. The newspaper demanded more Electric can-openers? Is that it? What about the other 9,000 wholly loathsome kitchen gadgets, which, even as we speak, are pointlessly filling peoples kitchens and making their lives almost inexpressibly worse?
