Kitchen design blends modern convenience with retro charm

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

An interior designer has created a modern, functional kitchen while retaining its original retro style.Candice Olson wrote for vcstar.com that the kitchen had a mid-century charm, having been first built in the 1960s.However, she noted that because the room also had an awkward layout, tiny oven and antiquated appliances, the homeowners wanted to update the room.To do this, Ms Olsons renovation team knocked down some of the walls to open up the space while also ripping out old cabinets and appliances.Ms Olson also created a contemporary feel by installing white quartz counters in the kitchen sink and food preparation areas. These are complemented by zebra-wood cabinets and new windows along the back wall.Last week, designer Johnny Grey told the Daily Telegraph that kitchens are becoming more like living rooms where people happen to also cook.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19618006-ADNFCR
