Kitchen cupboards to accommodate healthy alternatives

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Homeowners may be encouraged to add kitchen storage options for healthier cooking alternatives following the comments of one expert.Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) nutritionist Hannah Brinsden has argued that there are many simple ways of adding flavour to food without the need for adding salt. She said that herbs, spices, lemon juice and black pepper can all make your meals taste great while also being much healthier. With the daily salt intake for adults being only a teaspoons worth, Ms Brinsden explained that by not adding salt to home cooking, people will learn to appreciate the real taste of food.Homeowners aiming to branch out with their cooking could choose to set up new spice racks or cupboards in kitchen sink and food prep areas. Ms Brinsdens comments come after recent research by University College London stated that traditional meals such as jerk chicken served in African and Caribbean restaurants were found to contain the same level of salt as that in over 30 packets of ready salted crisps.ADNFCR-1321-ID-800389838-ADNFCR
