A couple created a flowing colour scheme in the downstairs space of their home by matching the decor with their kitchen countertops.Carol and Matt Rodgers-Rivir showed Cincinnati.com around their elegant Edwardian home which they renovated with a range of stylish additions.This included Yellow River granite countertops for the kitchen sink and food preparation areas. These work surfaces feature patterned veins of yellow, cream, blue, rusty red and brown, the website noted.Inspired by the colours, the couple adopted similar tones elsewhere in the home, using cream for the entry hall and staircase and warm golden shades for the living room walls.Because the rooms are fairly large and the ceilings are high, strong colours - tempered with large areas of soft colours - work very well, said Cincinnati.com.According to a survey of interior designers in the Daily Mail last month, grey is expected to replace other popular neutral tones in home design during the coming year.
