Kitchen colours should be bright

Bright and sunny colours should be used in the kitchen, it has been suggested. According to Lori Smith, writing for Examiner.com, while metal elements such as white can create a clean, calming environment, this can be a little too harsh in some instances. She noted White can be a little too sterile, mixing some fire and wood elements into the space can help to break it up, adding that red in particular can be effective for artwork and accessories. Earthy colours including yellow, terracotta, orange and deep browns are good for keeping a room grounded, while water elements such as blue can induce calm into a room. Ms Smith also advised breaking up a granite countertop around kitchen sinks with plants to offset its harshness. Earlier this year, the Miami Herald reported comments made by interior design expert Jennifer Bertrand, who said that kitchen sink areas can be revitalised through a lick of paint.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19349411-ADNFCR
