Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Pent-up demand for new kitchen appliances will lead to a mini-boom in the market this year, a report has said.Research by Mintel found that the recession and a lack of consumer confidence has caused many people to delay the purchase of new kitchen appliances. However, the analyst also found that this postponement would lead to a surge in appliance sales this year as homeowners look to freshen up their kitchen designs. Mintel said that volume sales of such appliances would rise by 15 per cent over the next five years.Sales of food preparation appliances such as mixers, blenders and whisks were shown to have performed well, with volumes increasing by 17 per cent between 2005 and 2009.Changing fashions in kitchen design and dcor provide the opportunity for more frequent replacement of appliances, especially when consumer confidence returns, said Richard Caines, senior retail analyst at Mintel.Interior designer Betsy Burnham recently told the Associated Press that many homeowners make new years resolutions to redesign and improve their rooms.
