People not yet taking green kitchen matters into their own hands have been given an added incentive, as celebrity chef Jamie Oliver explained the measures he takes to avoid waste in the cooking area.Speaking to homes magazine Period Living, the chef claimed that he had always been a fan of recycling and was now branching out in an attempt to ensure that his use of cooking ingredients was also sustainable.Oliver is one of many celebrities looking to set an example in the kitchen, as people across the UK take steps like installing InSinkErator waste disposal units or even composting their own kitchen waste. He told Period Living At home, we already do loads of recycling including plastic bottles and cardboard. Ive always tried to buy seasonally and locally anyway so that hasnt changed.I was growing fresh herbs on the window sill even when was living in a tiny flat in London. Then, when I bought and renovated the farmhouse in Essex three years ago, I looked around the garden and thought it might be an idea to start growing stuff. He added that a new range of Italian restaurants set to be opened would look to use as many reclaimed fixtures and fittings as possible, in a bid to avoid wastage both inside and outside the kitchen.
