Is your kitchen design making you fat?

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Could your kitchen design be making you fat? The answer is yes, according to a number of studies. First of all, if you have stools in your kitchen, it is a good idea to get rid of them. You burn far more calories standing rather than sitting, both whilst preparing food and when eating. Removing your seating will also eventually cause you to move to more comfortable areas away from food so you will not be so tempted to eat. Your kitchens triangle also has an impact on how many calories you burn. Your triangle distance is the distance between your sink, your food preparation area and your appliances. If the triangle is large, you will burn more calories. In addition, researcher Brian Wansink says the smaller the triangle, the more you are likely to eat when you are supposed to be preparing food. Does your kitchen lighting make a difference to how much you eat? According to some experts, yes. If you want to watch your weight, go brighter on your lighting. Studies show bright lights discourage eating. Lastly, if you have a TV or ipad in your kitchen, move them out. The more you are distracted from the food you are eating, the more you are likely to eat.
