Is an open plan kitchen for you?

It is becoming more and more common for homes to have open plan kitchens. When considering whether an open plan kitchen is right for you, there are many factors to consider. On the plus side, an open plan kitchen gives you more of a feeling of space and is ideal for mothers who need to keep an eye on young children. Likewise, when entertaining, the host can work in the kitchen whilst still enjoying the company of their guests. An open kitchen is also ideal if you have lots of attractive crockery or glassware you would like to have on display. However, open plan kitchens can also have their downsides. In an Indian household, where styles of cooking can create a lot of smoke, cooking in a kitchen without walls can mean that excessive smoke can stain the walls of the entire property. The same principle can apply to smells emanating from the kitchen. Whilst some aromas can be pleasant, others, such as the lingering smell of fish, are not so attractive.
