An interior designer has revealed how she chose to establish an eclectic mix of items and decor during her home kitchen renovation.Isabelle Miaja, director of Miaja Design Group, an international design firm with offices in Singapore, Dubai and Manila, explained that one of her primary concerns was to have a relatively big kitchen leading out onto a veranda where she would be able to entertain guests.Speaking to TodayOnline.com, she also noted that she had decorated the home with various unique ornaments to reflect different places and times in her life. These included giraffe statues from South Africa and Giacometti tables from Los Angeles.Elsewhere, the designer explained how she had tried to create coherency within the home through combinations of colour and texture.I find a dominant wallpaper, or I choose tiles and floor finishes that are more neutral so that theres a calming background, said Ms Miaja. Some items are classical in line, which makes it easier to fit into most environments.
