Interior design expert Sarah Beeny says its better to improve than move

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Interior design expert and TV presenter Sarah Beeny believes it makes more sense to upgrade a kitchen rather than to move house in the current economic climate. The property guru has said that current economic problems mean that homeowners are looking at home improvements from a different perspective. The trend now is in adding value, she says. Thats massive and, with so many families struggling against the credit crunch and with some even in negative equity, it really does make sense to stay put and add value. Speaking to the window firm Everest, Beeny says The greater truth is as long as you have the space in your house, you can do whatever you want with it. We can all fret over blank canvases when it comes to how were going to turn a house into a home but, no matter what budget you have, the end product can always be fantastic. In a recent poll carried out by Everest, more than half of those interviewed (53.7percent) said theyd rather add a conservatory or renovate their property than move house. Improvements most likely to add value to the home are kitchen renovations, conservatories and improved entrances and frontages.
