Increasing space a popular home improvement

People are increasingly looking to renovate their homes - rather than move properties - and this could include giving a kitchen a makeover.According to Homebuilding Renovating Magazine, a ten per cent increase in floor space could result in a five per cent value boost to a property. One way the size of a kitchen could be improved is to install an undermount kitchen sink, which are often embedded in kitchen surfaces and therefore can be greater in size than regular kitchen sinks.Rather than cramming the washing up and food preparation into a smaller kitchen sink, an undermount sink could give the kitchen a roomier feel, while its subtle positioning could make surfaces look less cluttered.Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding Renovating magazine, said that when it comes to DIY, people are looking to spend a bit of time themselves doing it. Rather than paying 40 a day [for a professional], they are happy to have a go themselves and do just as good a job.And Steve Gray, from Steve Gray Renovations, recently told wthr.com that making small improvements to a home such as new kitchen sinks could guarantee a large return on investment.
