Improving the lighting is the most dramatic and cost-effective change you can make to your kitchen, according to one designer.Cindy Raskin of Ohio-based Design Concepts, says It totally changes the ambiance of the room, Home and Garden Television (HGTV) reports.Ms Raskin explains that kitchen lighting is divided into three areas general, task and accent.General is typically ceiling-mounted and provides the overall illumination, task sheds light directly where it is needed and accent adds drama by drawing attention to details. She suggests updating the general lighting with a monorail track system, which connects to the existing wiring of the old fixtures.Under-cabinet light strips can improve task lighting and can be plugged into a socket or wired in by an electrician for a cleaner look. Finally, Ms Raskin says installing a dimmer switch can change the mood of the entire kitchen. In a previous article on lighting, Jennifer Haupt of HGTV stated that lighting a kitchen is not a complex matter but is layered.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18672795-ADNFCR
