Are you keen to start the New Year with a kitchen remodel but worried about the disruption that it will cause? According to four US remodeling experts who have vast experience in kitchen updates, many kitchen remodeling headaches can be avoided. Their advice includes ensuring that you hire an experienced contractor who is already experienced in solving the type of problems likely to crop up. This is key to a successful remodel with minimum inconvenience. You need someone who has a team in place to do the work and who has been in the business for several years, said Charlie Verhoog, owner of Home Supply Kitchens. We have renovated 500 kitchens ourselves and I think it takes 100 to get over the hump of being ready for any problem. He added that it was important to decide on a budget beforehand and to work with the designer to ensure it was adhered to. Mr Verhoog also advised having realistic expectations and an understanding that a kitchen remodel would involve some inconvenience. Most designers move the refrigerator to another location and at least set up a microwave, so you still can do some cooking. Sinks in other areas of the home can also be utilized. Beyond that, takeaways may be on the menu for a while.
