If you have invested in a new Solid Surface kitchen worktop, you will need to look after it to prolong its life for as long as possible. Always protect your new Solid Surface worktop from intense heat and sharp knives to keep it in good condition. Use a chopping board and trivet. It is recommended that your wipe down your Solid Surface worktop every day with a mild detergent and water and then buff it to keep it looking its best. It is also a good idea to polish your worktop once a week with a mircofibre cloth. Occasionally, slight scratches can mark your worktop. These can be removed by gently rubbing with a Scotchbrite pad and then polishing. More severe scratches can be sanded out but this can be difficult procedure if you are not an experienced kitchen fitter and should be carried out by a professional. To protect the underneath of the worktop near the kitchen sink, paint the wooden bottom with two layers of varnish around the cut out.
