By Neil Waterman.Despite growing interest from potential buyers, there are still a number of problems facing the housing market at the moment, an expert has claimed.Founder of property website Briffy David Amstell said that even though the market is appearing to be more buoyant at the moment, there is still some way to go before recovery is seen.Homeowners looking to sell their property may find that installing a new kitchen helps them to attract a higher price. The room, which is traditionally seen as one of the focal points of a house, may benefit from new fittings and fixtures, such as an undermount kitchen sink to help create clean, unbroken lines.According to the latest Halifax house price survey, published on June 4th, the cost of a property rose by 2.6 per cent in May, when compared to April, to stand at 158,565.But while there is more interest in the market, completing sales may still prove to be difficult, as mortgages continue to be difficult to come by.I dont think consumers are seeing anything less than around four per cent at the moment for their mortgages - and thats probably a good deal, said Mr Amstell.
