Homeowners shying away from DIY kitchen upgrades

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Basic renovation skills which have previously passed down through generations are being lost, it has been claimed.According to Homebuilding Renovating magazine, younger people are now more likely to ask for professional help rather than undertake a task themselves.Jason Orme, editor of the publication, believes that this is a direct result of individuals working longer hours, which makes performing home improvement tasks in their spare time the last thing they want to do.There is no question that many young people dont tend to have those basic DIY maintenance skills any more and it is disappointing, Mr Orme added.Personally I find it incredibly rewarding and slightly relaxing. It is something that should be encouraged more, definitely. The comments could encourage a number of homeowners to think about carrying out their own improvements, such as replacing an old kitchen sink or fitting a new set of kitchen taps.Indeed, research from Saga Home Insurance found that the over 50s are putting younger Britons to shame when it comes to preparing their homes.ADNFCR-1321-ID-800271931-ADNFCR
