Homeowners have been offered a number of tricks and tips for tackling bad smells in the kitchen.US cleaning specialist and TV personality Linda Cobb spoke to Glad.com about some of the best ways of getting rid of bad odours. For example, she suggested wiping out the refrigerator with a solution of half water and half white vinegar before stocking it with food in order to help stave off troublesome smells.Kitchens are a breeding ground for olfactory offenses, said Ms Cobb. But as easy as it is to create these foul odours, its just as easy to alleviate them.Elsewhere, she recommended fighting microwave odours by pouring about an inch of vanilla extract into a bowl and bringing it to the boil. The tips come after Tim Doherty, a writer for the Hattiesburg American, recently noted that all manner of nasty items can be found stored under the average kitchen sink including anti-freeze, motor oil, paint, rat poison, batteries and brake fluid.
