Homeowners planning a kitchen refit and unsure of what tiles to choose could benefit from a Home and Garden Television (HGTV) feature. The channel says that copper, stainless, hardwood and glass are some of the hottest tile trends for kitchens and discusses the pros and cons of various materials.According to one kitchen store owner, glass tiles add a depth, sparkle and luminescence not found in ceramic or natural stone.Bill Wolf says with a broad colour palette and a range of finishes, glass tiles can fit most design schemes in backsplashes or accents on floors. Many are made from recycled glass, he points out, which could make them a popular choice for environmentally aware homeowners. For those looking to complement stainless steel appliances metal wall tiles may be the perfect option. And faux hardwood porcelain tiles look fabulous according to designer Christine Jurs. She says the tiles are easier to care for than real wood and are resistant to moisture.Last month HGTV advised painting kitchen cabinets for a dramatic new look.
