Homeowners looking to expand the size of their kitchens will find it much easier from this month.October sees the introduction of new regulations regarding the extension and expansion of homes in the UK, reducing the need for planning permission on a range of changes homeowners can make to their homes.Budding DIY enthusiasts will be able to include a functional, stylish new sink in their plans as the easing of restrictions means they may not have to pay planning fees, which can sometimes top 1,000 more than an enough for a new sink from a top manufacturer like Astracast, Franke or Grohe.Housing minister Caroline Flint said The changes the government has made will mean about 80,000 households a year no longer have to get planning permission.As of this month, the new rules will allow a one storey extension to be up to 3m deep.
